Brainmatters.nl is a website that makes neuroscience accessible for everyone (in both English and Dutch), explaining complex concepts in ways that are fun and easy to grasp. Its content is suitable for both people who are not yet familiar with the brain and for those who already have some background knowledge. The website was only recently relaunched and had about 2.500 visitors alone during the past month. Every month features articles dedicated to a specific theme. Last month’s theme was “the Aging Brain”, for which Loes prepared her contribution on cognitive decline and deafness.

Brainmatters.nl also includes focus sections, such as recommendations for documentaries or books related to neuroscience, articles in which they dive deeper into interesting subjects or developments in the field, and a step-by-step introduction to the anatomy of the brain. Very useful is the extensive database, with explanations of more than 100 terms related to the anatomy of the brain, (neuro)psychology, and research. In short, everything you want to know about the brain in one place!
